15 Apr Sarah Millicent Schmidt
Sarah was adopted from the Kelowna SPCA on April 10 2008. She was listed as a 2 year old female longhair cat but she turned out to be more than that. As I was looking to adopt a cat she was in a tree tower and people were trying to pet her but she moved away from them. The other people left the room and I went up to get a closer look at her . Minutes passed and i talked to her about how pretty she was. She got up , came forward and licked the tip of my nose. That day she came home with me as she choose me to be her provider and a friendship grew.
Sarah turned out to be a gift . As her provider I had health issues as a diabetic and she knew when my blood sugars would drop in the night. She would gently wake me up with her paws and claws on my temple. till i got up and attended to the issue at hand. She never cared for tuna juice or cat treat but she loved her salmon pate. Sarah was finicky about people too. She knew who was really a cat person to those who said they were. Animals are very preceptive to many things. After an extended stay in hospital in 2016 where I was in a coma due to pneumonia and influenza A , Sarah greeted me when I got home with kisses( licks) and forever her head rubbing on my face for a day. I missed her just as much as she missed me. She was well taken care of by family and friends. She love the blinking l solar lights in the garden, jumping on the bed when I made it, her favorite toys were my mom’s old plastic knotting needle and the little red dot She had a full life of belly rubs and lots of love.. A Sarah was near her 15th Adoption day birthday when old age caught up to her and she passed away on April 1 2021 at 2:29 pm. She will be missed not just by me but family and friends who loved her too.
