22 May Charlie
On May 4, 2021, just one month shy of his 15th birthday, our beloved Charlie crossed over the rainbow bridge and into his next adventure. He was a gentle, sensitive little soul who loved nothing more than to snuggle in a warm lap for as long as you’d let him.
I had actually picked out a different puppy and arrived at the breeder to pick it up when Charlie “found” me. He was timid and sat as far away in the corner of the kennel as he could possibly get but when his beautiful dark eyes looked into mine I automatically knew he was “ours”. The breeder tried to discourage me from taking him, stating that he had health issues and had already been returned once, but my heart was already touched. Charlie came home with me that day and automatically became my preschool-aged son’s best friend and saw him through the journey into adulthood. His big beautiful “radar ears” sopped up many tears over the years, heard much laughter and Charlie was the keeper of many of our secrets, fears and dreams.
Goodnight, Sir Charles, rest easy. We love you and you’ll remain with us always. Thank you for choosing us to be your family. Love mom, dad, Matt and your fur-sister, Didi.
