25 Dec Butch
Butch gave us 16 1/2 years of joy , adventure and love. He brought a smile to everyone he met. Butch had a playful spirit and loved to be social. His strength was undeniable as he survived distemper as a puppy and went on to live a long healthy life. He was so great to travel with and accompanied us on road trips throughout North America. He loved walks on the beaches of South Carolina , Florida, California, Muskoka and Kelowna.
Butch helped us through many changes in our lives and was the glue that kept our family together through the happy and sad times. No matter how our day was going just to look at him and enjoy him made it all a little better. There was nothing better than a snuggle on the couch or bed with our boy.
We will miss him greatly and he will forever be in our hearts. Love Mom and Dad.

Posted at 15:43h, 08 JanuaryI’ve been thinking of Butch and the word miracle is what I believe most describes him.. I can’t recall what was happening in your lives at the time Butch arrived but I know animals will appear in our lives to teach or deliver a message, lesson or purpose. The Strength and Determination of Butch , one so small and mighty! His first few days of becoming part of your family and his severe illness was an absolute miracle he survived. I believe it was the pure love that gave him the determination to overcome it .As Butch got older and had a few more health issues along the way, it was his strength, determination, fortitude and pure love that he overcome challenges. It always amazed me how Butch was so friendly and would great all with his waggley tail . Butch had a great sense of humour and fantastic fashion sense! He also had a magical ability to bring comfort to all. Allison and Howie Iam so very sorry from the bottom of my heart for your loss of Butch. Sending you healing and love 💕

Having had to say goodbye to two family members, who happened to be dogs, over the years, I know something of how hard this time is for you both. Butch was a great little guy, a constant companion. I hope sooner rather than later you will have more warm feelings as you remember him, than sad feelings. Because of him, you know a lot more about loving and being loved, and that’s a real blessing.

Posted at 11:54h, 04 JanuaryButch was a gem with a distinct personality & was certainly well loved & cared for by Allison & Howie. We first met Butch when he was dressed in a doggie tuxedo for their wedding. I think you should concentrate on remembering the joy that Butch brought you each & every day of his life. Not a day has gone by that our furry family members have not brought a smile to our faces. ❤️

I know you will be deeply missed.
Rest in Paradise my friend. Give some snuggles to Milo when you see him.

Posted at 09:46h, 02 JanuaryAllison and Howie,
We were so saddened to hear of Butch’s sudden illness and passing. He was such a kind and beautiful spirit. We remember how generous he was when we brought our Jewel over for visits. He was never territorial and always welcoming. We know how much he was adored by his loving parents. As mom says, he also brought a lot of joy to Great Aunt Jean – and they are together again. We know this is a hard time for you two and we are thinking of you often as you grieve this very special family member.
Sending our ❤️
Natalie and Tim and family.

Posted at 15:32h, 23 JanuaryMy favourite memory of our family get togethers is when Jewel decided to nap in Butch’s bed. She was 4 times his size but was determined to fit in his small bed. I envision them strutting around in heaven with all their dog friends as loved ones look on. Thank you for sharing.

I only met Butch a few times but I know how precious he was to you and the hole his passing has left in your lives. It will take time but eventually you will remember him with smiles instead of sorrow.

Posted at 10:47h, 30 DecemberOne of my favourite memories of Butch is when the Roughriders were making a run at the 2013 Grey Cup. Allison said that if they end up winning, I should send a Rider jersey to Butch and he would proudly wear it. Sure enough, the Riders came through, winning the Cup at Taylor Field in Regina no less. I sent Butch a Rider jersey for pets and Allison sent me I framed picture of Butch wearing it. Butch was the lucky charm for the Riders! RIP Butch. We will dearly miss you. But remember – all dogs go to heaven.
Allison Sawyer
Posted at 15:31h, 23 JanuaryYes we have a few pictures of Butch in the green and white. Mom used to love him wearing that jersey. He will cheer on the Roughriders from above with the Balfour sisters. Thank you for sharing and for your support.

Posted at 06:22h, 29 DecemberMost of my memories of Butch were when I lived with Allison and Howie. The times that I watched him and we’d snuggle on the couch and watch Netflix together. Also, the fact that he knew who I was by my smell. And would be wagging his tail before I would even start petting him. He will be missed, but never forgotten.

Posted at 15:30h, 23 JanuaryHi Megan. I remember how you used to get on the floor and play with Butch. He was always happy when you were around. Thank you for sharing.

I never got the chance to meet Butch but I sure did see the joy he brought to your lives.
And in turn, having you as parents, was the greatest gift he could’ve been given. Please take comfort in knowing that Butch knew that.
He had a wonderful life and that’s all thanks to you.
I am so sorry for your loss.

Posted at 17:25h, 28 DecemberSpecial memories of Butch sitting with his Mum in the office when we visited. Our online chats with Butch being part of the conversations. So very sad when we heard of his eye operation going wrong and the love he has received as a special family member with you both. Sending love and cuddles from your family downunder.

Posted at 13:43h, 28 DecemberI only met Butch a few times but my memory is of a friendly and loveable addition to your family. So although I didn’t know Butch real well I know what a positive difference he made to your lives. By him enriching your lives, you two have “paid it forward” and have also enriched the lives of all who know you. I know your hearts are hurting but you have wonderful memories of him that will help ease the pain. You two were lucky to have Butch and he was lucky to have you two.

Posted at 12:52h, 28 DecemberButch was such a great dog . He loved everyone . One time Butch came to our house . It didn’t take him long to sniff out treats and rawhide😂. Katie was happy to share . They had been in her box of toys for so long she had totally forgotten them. Everyone that met Butch new what a special addition to Howie and Allison’s family. He will be missed for sure.

Posted at 15:28h, 23 JanuarySharon and Hal thank you for making our wedding in Myrtle Beach extra special. Hal was so good with our ring bearer and made sure Butch took good care of our rings. In Manitoba it was fun having Butch and Katie in the same place. They brought so much joy to us all.

Posted at 12:39h, 28 DecemberButch was an incredible Pug. From a rough start in life he thrived with the love that Allison and Howie provided to him throughout his life. He was well loved but gave three fold in return to everyone he met.
One of my fondest memories was his hilarious way of interrupting our phone conversations when Allison and I would be talking, Without fail Butch would start to bark as if telling his Mom he wanted her attention. It was so cute and always made me laugh and put a big smile on my face.
He loved his cuddles with his family, car rides, his daily walks but most of all he loved Allison and Howie.
He made a real impact on those who knew him well and even though he will be sorely missed by family and friends he will live on in the indelible footprints he left on everyone’s hearts. He was very precious and so are the memories he left behind forever more. You were a great dog. Rest In Peace Butch.❤️❤️❤️ Myrna and Ted

My sincere sympathy as you move forward without Butch. I recall how he loved to cuddle, and how enjoyable walking with Butch was for you.. He brought Aunt Jean so much Joy. They are now together again. You will find there will be times in the future when you will think time to go for walk with Butch, then you remember he is no longer here.
Enjoy your memories and pictures as you thank him for the memories.
Sincerely Betty
